The Ninth Wave announce new album "There’s No Such Thing as Death"

Glasgow’s The Ninth Wave have announced the release of "There’s No Such Thing as Death", their long-awaited third album following a four-year hiatus, out on Rock Action Records on 12th March 2027.

The Ninth Wave build on the brooding, emotional intensity and powerful choruses that have become synonymous with the band, but also inject a new feeling and sound that is immediate, fervent and pared back. 'Organic' is not an adjective which would have sprung to mind previously when thinking of The Ninth Wave, but it is a fitting descriptor for this new chapter.

Recorded during the summer of 2026 in Black Bay Studio with long-time producer Dan Austin (Massive Attack, Pixies), the band approached the recording process of the songs in a markedly different style to their previous output. Gone are the synth layers now replaced with a remarkably immediate and raw sound, building on the dark, emotive grandeur that built them a loyal following. The songs are stripped back, yet retain a weightiness. The interplay of the four members on each track is clear; it seems time away has made them even tighter as a unit.

The album announcement is revealed alongside the new single "SD54 FXZ", a stunning contemplative lament, accompanied by an atmospheric and emotive live performance video, directed by Michael Roddy.

"There's No Such Thing as Death" will be available digitally, on CD and LP. You can pre-order the album here.
